Social work has many levels of practice. Some of these include:
Medical social worker
School social worker
Mental health provider
Child abuse investigator
Adoption specialist
Hospice social worker
Geriatric social worker
Foster care home study specialist
Substance abuse counselor
Forensic social worker
Rural social worker
Employee Assistance Program provider
Contents of Resource Packet
The Resource Packet MUST include:
(1) A summary of 5 empirically based research articles (hint: these must
include a methodology section).
(2) A list of fiction and nonfiction books that would be appropriate for the
target client system. These should have bibliotherapy as their intent.
(3) A list of videos/filmstrips that exemplify a certain technique or piece
of information from public agencies (i.e. library, Parent-Child Ctr., etc.)
(4) A list of websites that exemplify a certain technique or piece of information
or that would appropriate for the target cllient system.
(5) Telephone numbers, flyers, brochures, etc. from sources offering services
or information in your focus area (local, state and/or national)
Optional Resources:
(1) Commercial videos (i.e. from BlockBuster, etc) which exemplifies a piece
of information re: your topic
(2) Comic strips
(3) Games
(4) Support groups
(5) Community activities

Although there is not a set number of resources required, between 25-30 sources
are probably adequate. A key factor in earning an "A" is the quality
of the content, the structural planning and development, the clarity of the
presentation, the correct use of language and the analysis and conceptualization
of the theme. Purely descriptive work, however good, may not qualify for an
"A". See attached Evaluation Rubric. (Below)

An Excellent execution of a content area will demonstrate a clear, thorough,
organized and creative arrangement of information. There will be evidence
of structural planning and development as well as the correct use of language
in regard to spelling/grammar. The student's clear conceptualization of the
concept and integrated understanding of the content area will be apparent.
A Good execution of a content area will demonstrate a clear, thorough, and organized arrangement of information. There will be correct use of language in regard to spelling/grammar. The student's clear conceptualization of the concept of the content area will be apparent.
A Fair execution of a content area will be purely descriptive without much demonstration of thoroughness or organization. OR it will have poor use of language in regard to spelling/grammar. OR it will not demonstrate the student's clear conceptualization of the concept of the content area.
