Research Dr. Cherry
· Define being blinded by color - powerpoint
· How do we explain these perceptions?
· Germans had said that Black people grow tails at midnight…
· His explanation - we see the color more than the skin. So all "others" see is the white skin color.
Group Assignment
· As a group, email each other and come up with a couple of reasons for these observations.
· "People are blinded by color because…" - & use theories to explain why they might be.
Imprinting - not one he'd really use he said. Devloped through ethology and not quantitative or qualitative stuffs. (?) Ducks - when they first come out of the egg, the first thing they see is the thing they try to emulate. (Like Donna's cat who thinks it's a dog, that's all it's known.) Correlation - Baby sees moms face the baby also sees color (?!) Biracial boy in an all white town - thought of himself as white, grew up with people who were white and it wasn't an issue.

Prof "met Pdiddy before."
Movie - "Losing Isaiah" (spelling?)
The theories we've studied should apply.
Yeungian.

Content Analysis - Look it up.
American Journal of Insanity - 1845 - 1901(?) - today is the American Journal of Psychiatry.

You can never prove a hypothesis, but you can disprove it easily. You can't test it under Every situation (Logic Class - not all crows are black). "There have been babies born with AIDS who've had the disease just clear up, so not everyone dies of AIDS."

A Social Worker started Weight Watchers. - NO. Weight Watchers was formed by Jean Nidetch who was a housewife. She might be considered a social worker for what she did, but she was not a "Social Worker."
