Party Games...

Statues
Played to music, all the players move round while the music is playing, when the music stops the players have to stand like statues, anyone who moves is out, start the music again and repeat as many times as you want.

Tied in Knots Game
Instruct your guests to stand in a circle facing inward. To begin, everyone extends his or her right-hand into the ring and takes a hold of someone else's hand. Then, they do the same with their left-hands. The object of the game is to see if they can untangle the "knot" by ducking under people, stepping over them or turning around. No matter what happens, they can't let go of hands!

Advanced Musical Chairs
This fun variation of musical chairs is set up just like normal musical chairs but with additional fun thrown in. Start the music and have the children walk in a circle around the chairs, until you stop the music. When the music stops, each participant tries to sit in one of the chairs. The player left standing must pull the name of an animal, written on a piece of paper, out of a hat. Then, they must act it out while the other guests try to guess what the animal is. Start the music again and repeat the game until all the animals in the hat have been acted out.

This is a…
This is a ____. A what? A ____. Okay. Circle game

BALLOON POPPING CONTEST
Divide guests into two equal groups. About 25 yards away place two bags of inflated balloons in colors to match your theme colors. These balloons should be over-inflated to make popping easier. At the sound of a ringing bell or whistle, the first two relay contestants, one from each team, run to the bag, and remove one balloon. Each must sit on it until it pops. Once the balloon pops, the players run back to the starting line, and tag the next player in line. The first team to complete the course wins. Not a quiet game, but a guaranteed favorite!

Limbo
The young and the young at heart always enjoy the classic beach game of "limbo". Try using a string of twinkle lights, a strand of sparkly garland, a bamboo pole, a flashlight (lights out), or any item to match your theme for your limbo stick. For a fun variation on the game, make it a little more challenging by adding a "Super Stomach" to guests as they take their turn. Have a couple of oversized shirts, and some fluffy pillows on hand.

Gift Wrap Game
What you will need :
Gift items, wrapping paper, tape, music - that can be turned on and off.
Wrap each gift item in several layers of paper (the number of layers depends on how long you want the game to last)
Give your group / groups a gift and tell them when you turn on the music to pass the gift , ( like in the game hot potato) when you turn off the music who ever has the gift gets to take off ONE layer of paper, continue this until the last layer of paper is taken off ,and whoever has the gift unwrapped gets to keep it.
Great for schools, small groups or rows of children. The kids love it ! the gifts don't have to cost a lot just something that they like . Thanks Elaine

Gift Giving Game - Great for Christmas Parties and Exchanges
Everyone brings a gift to the party, this is fun for gift exchanges during the holidays. TO BEGIN: Everyone stands in a circle holding the gift he/she brought to the party. Someone reads the story, every time the word RIGHT is read, everybody passes his gift to the right. Every time the word LEFT is read, gifts are passed to the left. The gift that each person is holding at the end of the story is the gift he keeps.
Story Example:
The Right Family Christmas Story Christmas was almost here and Mother RIGHT was finishing the Christmas baking. Father RIGHT, Susie RIGHT, and Billy RIGHT returned from their last minute Christmas errands. "There's not much LEFT to be done," said Father RIGHT as he came into the kitchen. "Did you leave the basket of food at Church?" asked Mother RIGHT? "I LEFT it RIGHT where you told me to," said Billy RIGHT." "I don't have any money LEFT." The hall telephone rang, and Susie RIGHT LEFT to answer it. She rushed back and told the family, "Aunt Tillie RIGHT LEFT a package for us RIGHT on Grandma RIGHT's porch. I'll go over there RIGHT now and get it," she said as she LEFT in a rush. Father RIGHT LEFT the kitchen and brought in the Christmas Tree. By the time Susie RIGHT returned, Mother RIGHT, Father RIGHT, and Billy RIGHT had begun trimming the tree. The entire RIGHT family sang carols as they finished the decorating. Then they LEFT all the presents arranged under the tree and went to bed, hoping they had selected the RIGHT gifts for their family. Now I hope you have the RIGHT present for yourself, because that's all that's LEFT of our story, except to wish you a Merry Christmas, isn't that RIGHT?

Wrapped Gift Game Take 2 - It Gets Harder
Require a small wrapped gift and a pair of dice. The gift should be wrapped in a solid box. We had a gift certificate wrapped in a hard jewellery case.
Wrap the gift with paper, then masking tape, paper, masking tape, paper
(the more layers, the harder the game). Players, as many as there are to play, sit in a circle. Each player takes a turn at rolling 2 dice, first person to roll doubles, get to start unwrapping the gift, the catch, they have to wear a pair of mittens (wool, oven mitts, etc). Players cannot use teeth. Immediately players continue to take turns to roll the dice, next player to roll doubles take the mitts and a turn at unwrapping the gift. Play continues until the gift is unwrapped, the player to unwrap the last piece of paper gets the gift.
Hint - to build the excitement, do not tell players that you used masking tape and several layers of paper.
Thanks Richard & Krista

Sock Guessing Game
You take a new pair of thick thermal socks. You know the gray ones that hunters use in the winter. Then you put objects, that you see or use around Christmas time, into the socks. Make sure you put the same things in each sock. Things like holly, scotch tape, ornament, pine cone, etc. Make sure you put about 20 to 25 different objects in. Tie a ribbon or rope around the opening to make sure nobody peeks. Give everyone a piece of paper and pass the socks around at your party and tell them how many objects there are in the sock and have them write down all they can feel. Two socks just makes the game go a little faster. The person that guesses the most objects is the winner.

Christmas Carol Chaos - Sounds Like Fun!
Type: Team game
Number: Any number really, teams do not need even numbers
Winner: Team that figures out all 5 of their christmas carols first
How to play: Divide group into teams. Each team sends one person up
to the GameMaster who gives them the name of a Xmas carol. Person returns to group and, in the manner of pictionary, tries to get the group to guess the name of the carol by DRAWING ONLY. As soon as the group knows the song, they must sing it as loud as they can. After singing, they send a new person for another song. Play continues until one group completes all five songs.
Hints: Make sure your group is well warmed up or they won't want to
sing. Also make the carols easy ones.
Items needed: Pen & Paper for each team. If your team is very large,
you may need a chalkboard, dry Erase board or big sheet of butcher paper on the wall so everyone can see.
Thanks - Alice

Pass The Bow (or apple or whatever fits the occasion)
Type: Team game
Number: Any number, about 6-15 players per team
Winner: Team that passes 6 bows down and back first

the line, place the six Christmas bows (or apples). With their left hand have each player grab the right wrist of the person to their right. On the mark, teams pass all the bows down and back again. If a bow falls, players must retrieve while still holding on. The chain must not be broken!

Holiday Guess Games - Fun for any Holiday or office event
1) Our law firm had a Christmas party last year. Our accountant was able to get childhood photos of each person who worked in the firm from spouses, family members, significant others, etc. It was a secret!!! At the party, she posted each picture on a huge white poster board with a number under each. Each member of the firm had to write down who they thought each person was. It was great fun!

2) The day before our Christmas party, our accountant secretly went around to each person's desk in the firm and snatched one somewhat 'personal' item off of their desk. At the party, she layed everything out on a table, each assigned with a number. Everyone had to figure out which item came from who's desk! It was a hoot to see who actually stays at their desk and works and who spends most of their days wandering around everyone else's office!!

Mummy game
Form groups of 4 – 5 people.
One person is selected to be the Mummy.
One roll of paper is handed out to remaining members on each team.
Music begins and team members proceed to wrap the mummy so that no skin or clothing is visible except for his or her mouth or nose.

Winner is chosen by audience applause for the best-looking mummy. Everyone on the winning mummy’s team will win a prize.

Oversized Twister
The referee spins the spinner, then calls out the body part and the color that the arrow points to.
All players, at the same time, must then try to follow the referee’s directions as explained below. Each player must try to place the called-out body part on a vacant circle of the called-out color. For example, if the referee calls out “right hand, red,” each player must try to place a right hand on any vacant red circle. If your called-out hand or foot is already on a circle of the called-out color, you must try to move it to another circle of the same color. There can never be more than one hand or foot on any circle. If two or more players reach for the same circle, the referee must decide which player got there first. The other player(s) must
find another vacant circle of the same color.
Never remove your hand or foot from the circle unless you’re directed to by the referee after a spin. If all circles of a color are already covered, the referee must spin again until a different color can be called out. The last player left in the game is the winner!!

Don’t say ___(game?)________ game.

Naming of Candy
For this you need: About 6 different candies that have given names like M&M's, Crunch, Wrigley's , etc. 1 Die (or 2 dice if the crowd is very large) Everyone is seated on the floor in a circle. Packaged candy bars or candy are placed in the middle of the circle. Everyone starts by saying their own names. The leader then makes sure that everyone knows what candy is in the middle. someone begins by rolling the dice. If they roll a 6, they can take one of the candies in the middle. The die continues to go quickly around the circle while people keep picking up candy. When all of the candies are taken, people then can get other people's candy. In order to get their candy, they must state the person's first name and the name of the candy they hold. The person who rolls a 6 and matches the name of the candy and the person takes the other's candy. If they forget either name, they miss their turn and the dice goes to the next person and they continue to roll. (One person can get more than one candy and people can hide the candy behind their back). This is a great way of getting to know people's name and how to get your favorite candies!

The Grouping Game
This is a good game to play as a mixer. It is a fun, fast moving game. It starts out as everyone collects in one big group. The leader initially calls out a number, usually a number between two and fifteen. The number shouldn't be more than half of the number of total participants. When the number is called out everyone must try to collect in a group that contains that number of people. The group members should be latching arms or have their arms wrapped around each other so that the leader can see who is in the group. If someone cannot enter a group because the number of required members has been reached, he is out of the game. As different numbers are successively called out the number of participants gets smaller and smaller. Eventually, there are less than ten people. The last group, or winning group, should have anywhere from two to five people.

Pass It On
Sit close together in two lines facing the same direction. The person in the front of each line rolls a die. When one of them gets a six, both of them pass a small object (a jack, a ball, a bracelet) to the person behind them who passes it on until it reaches the end. When it gets to the last person, that person must get up and race to the front of the line with the object and sit down. The person who sits down first, gets to sit in the front of the line. The person who was second to sit down, goes back to his or her spot. Whichever line rotates from back to front first, wins.
Winking Murder

All except the detective sit in a circle while the detective waits outside. One person from the circle is elected to be the murderer, and then the Detective is called back to stand in the circle. When he is ready, the Murderer winks at people in the circle. Anyone who sees that they have been winked at lets out a blood-curdling scream and dies. The Detective has three attempts to guess the murderer.

Pass the Orange
Arrange for teams of about 8 to stand in a line, one behind the other (arranged - boy, girl, boy,...). Give each team an orange which the first person should tuck under his chin. This should be passed to the person behind. When the orange gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again. The winning team is the first one which gets their starting person to the front again.

Back To Back
Players stand in pairs, except one player who is "it". When "it" calls "Back to back!" the players must back up to a partner. When "it" calls "Face to Face!", these partners must face each other and shake hands. On the next call "Back to back!" and each time thereafter, all players must change partners. "It" tries to get a partner during the change. The player left out becomes "it".

Betty Boop
Divide the group into 3 smaller groups...Betty, Popeye & Wolf.

When you mention "Betty" that group stands up and says: "Boop-Boop-De-Doo" (with hip action).
When you mention "Popeye" that group stands up and says: "Well, blow me down" (with arm waving action).
When you mention "Wolf" that group stands up and gives a "Wolf Whistle".

Here's the Story to Read:

"Once upon a time, there was a charming young lady named BETTY (Pause for group action each time you mention Betty, Popeye & Wolf) who was loved by a sailor called POPEYE. BETTY lived near a great forest in which there roamed a big WOLF. One day BETTY decided to visit her grandmother who lived in the heart of the forest where the WOLF lived, but BETTY would not listen and would not let POPEYE accompany her. Soon the WOLF followed BETTY, and he crept closer and closer. But, behind him came POPEYE! Just as the WOLF was about to leap on BETTY, POPEYE hit him with his trusty club and saved BETTY'S life. Thus the end of the story of POPEYE, BETTY BOOP and the Big Bad WOLF.

Psychic Shake
This game calls for as much silence as possible. Each person decides on a number from 1 to 3. While not saying a word, everyone in the group wanders around shaking hands with others. The number of shakes should match the number chosen. There will be a moment of tension when numbers don't match up. People should silently decide how to group themselves. Eventually everyone will be in 3 groups. Often the groups are evenly divided - it must be psychic.

Question Game
The first player faces the player to his right and asks a question. It can be any kind of question. There is no minimum or maximum length for questions. That player does not answer the question he was asked, but instead asks a question to the NEXT player in the circle. The next player asks the player after him a question, and so on. Players should look at the person who is asking them a question and at the player to whom they are asking a question.

A person is "out" if they do one of a few things after asked a question:
1) Answers the question answered -- EVEN if the answer is in the form of a question
2) Does not IMMEDIATELY ask the next person a question
3) Laughs
4) Makes a statement instead of a question
5) Repeats a question that was very recently asked

When a person is "out" they are not asked any questions, nor do they ask any questions, until the game is over. When there are only two people left, they ask each other questions back and forth.
